Thought it was time I let you all know how Dd3 is getting on.

[Quick recap] She is 8 and in the assessment process for ASD.

She started her new school last week and had a lovely first few days of gardening, craft and hands on science.

This week it has been a bit more formal with a smattering of literacy and numeracy, but it seems that she is settling well and is taking advantage of the opportunities to have some down time away from the other 8 year old girls.

Today she had her first ever school dinner, she was accompanied by the SENCO who had promised her she would go in to dinner with her the first time, it seems she coped really well with it and she told us all about it on the way home.

She has been bouncy and happy so far this week, it is so nice to see.

After many sleepless nights and tough decision making we are reallly happy that she is settling so well.

To any one else who is considering a move, go for it, if your gut instict says do it, then do it. It has worked for usGrin.

That is fantastic, well done ineedalife dd Smile

Thanx folks, I was so nervous for her today at work, I kept thinking, what if its too noisy/smelly, or she drops the tray, or the SENCO forgets to go and help her.

Pathetic isnt it but she has always had sandwiches before, the old school didn't do hot meals and the dinner hall has always been her least favourite place.

I need to learn to have faith in the new school but I think it will take a while.

I am really happy for herGrin.

It is pretty amazing the relief that wafts over you when the school move goes well - i remember it well. Good on you and your dd3 Smile

I'm so pleased that it's going well, especially as we all advised you to go for it! Grin Hot dinners, wow, my 11 yo has only ever has a packed lunch.

Hulababy · 11/05/2011 22:00

Glad your DD is enjoying her new school.

DietcokeGirl · 11/05/2011 22:03

Not pathetic at all. It is a big deal and you have reason to be happy!

As you said, you went with your instincts and know it was the right decision for you and your DD but you are bound to still feel a little apprehensive.

Keep smiling!

Yes you did all give me the kick I neededGrin.

And yes Hot Dinners, she had roast beef and yorkshire pud with carrots and roast pots!! she loves roast diners, which will be a bonus as they seem to have them a couple of times a week.

We have a copy of the menu's at home so she can choose what she wants before she goes in the morning. We are just going to do a couple of days each week at the moment as it will get quite expensive with 2 Dd's wanting dinner money now!!

Auntevil... I am still in shock that I actually moved her I think, I had had at least one child in the old school for 12 years, so it was a big step to take.
