It may be because it's en of tax yer they make a few funny odd amount payments until you renew the award. Happened to me a few years ago but I was 50quid a week down. Hth

Yes, we had a letter last month to say we would no longer be getting our child tax credit. Was only £45 every 4 weeks but better than nothing. Will lose child benefit from start of next year too when the new reforms kick in. We are one of the families well and truly stiched up by this govt - DH earns just over the 40% threshold and I don't work as ft carer to DD (PMLD) and DS (HF ASD). Wouldn't mind so much if families where both parents work and earn just under £40K each wouldn't still be getting it. Would just love the opportunity to go to work and make up the lost money - but thats not going to happen - so it will be belt tightening yet again!!!

hi chundle, this is my new award, no changes at all since last year. Lady on the phone told me its because of the cuts Sad im peed right off, my son hasnt attended school since january, hes only 6, just diagnosed ASD and has complex medical probs, draft statement hopefully by mid june and hope for special school. My EP had just emailed a private tutor contact number (LA wont pay for it), I was going to ring the lady and at least get my son some tuition to ready him for school at the end of the year, wont be able to afford it now, blinking cuts!

bigbluebus, sorry you have lost everthing Sad, im hoping to return to work again (never been unemployed!) once hes HOPEFULLY settled into school. I know that will take a good few months though

im on income support and carers so have had no changes. i got a one off payment of £250 and now my weekly amount is down by £20 a week

Janet, ive got an interview next week for income support. I had to leave work last January due to my son and didnt even think of recouping the money from IS, Im hoping next week they will tell me if im due anything and it may cover what im losing at least, plus the £45 a month im losing in housing benefit Sad im so annoyed as ive paid taxes from 1984 to 2009 and feel so punished!

if you are on carers, you will get about £42 per week income support (you get a disability premium) i cant help with the housing bit as im mortgaged.
i have to have a 'back to work' interview every 6 months, even tho im exempt from work because of DD. i dont know why they cant grasp, that im a carer, that i cant go out to work. i get no help at all off family with my kids (my mum works fulltime). ex is non existant in the kids life. they (the job centre) think that because DD is in school i just sit at home doing nothing but watch jezza. they like to know the inside of a fart - what actually is wrong with DD.
her disability shouldnt matter to them. they actually wanted me to take all 3 kids to my last interview as it was a snow day and i rang to cancel. no way was i trying to push a major buggy in that weather plus have 3 kids running wild out of boredom

brandy77 · 11/05/2011 21:27

oh dear, i will look forward to being interviewed then.....NOT! fortunately my mother is having my son so i wont have to take him, got it would be a nightmare with him, no way would he allow me to sit and be interviewed, it would definitely lead to him having a major meltdown and probably people putting their eyes in the air at him! Oh thats good to know i may get £40 odd pound, that will at least cover the money im losing. shame its not money im gaining though! but at least it means i would be able to afford to pay this tutor till my son is back into schooling. Thanks. xx

sorry i didnt get back last night. income support is paid fortnightly so you will get 80 odd a fortnight :)

Our childcare element has been cut and we have been investigated really thoroughly twice in the past year. It's a complete pain in the arse and they don't understand childcare for severely disabled children at the Tax Credit Office (e.g., that they need a 1:1 etc.).

Tiggles · 12/05/2011 12:14

I think child tax credits have been reduced for anyone earning over £31K and cut completely from about £40K. From next year they will be cut completely for anyone earning over £31K.
:(
BigBlueBus we are in the same situation as you - DH went over the 40% threshold when they lowered it this year, he also works in public sector so has to put more money into his pension etc etc so not sure how we are going to manage when we lose child benefit next year! We will be fine by about 2014 when a loan we took out for a failed business venture is paid off Hmm or if we sell the house we have had on the market for 3 years, so not having to pay mortgage and council tax etc on an empty house (anyone want a fab house in S. Wales?!?!?) as well as rent (moved with DHs job)...
