Multi-agency meeting today. Very nervous.

As the title says we have a multi-agency review today to discuss DS1, who is 5, with a view to diagnosing. I strongly suspect he has Aspergers, school are desperate for help and guidance so both his teacher and I are pinning our hopes on the professionals to actually make their minds up today. I am quite amazed that I have managed to get the paed, ed psych, speech therapist and teacher to agree to a time and place but am very nervous about what I should do/ expect. I have a list of all my concerns printed off (sent a copy to each professional in advance of the meeting) - all of them have been mentioned at one time or another over the past 2 and a bit years that DS1 has been seeing various NHS professionals but thought it'd help to have it all in one place.

Assuming they agree (I reckon there is plenty of evidence to support a diagnosis), what are the next steps? How do we go about applying for a statement? His teacher is keen to get extra help for him asap as he is very academic and way ahead of his year group and the year above in terms of ability but can't just get on with stuff, needs somebody constantly keeping him on track. He can be very disruptive too, which causes problems. In addition there are toileting problems Confused The whole process is completely new to me, all I know is that it's a fight to get the support you require for your child, but I am prepared to fight tooth and nail to make sure he is sufficiently supported in school so that he can make the progress of which he is capable. He's had a crap start to his school life, with one failed school placement already :( Any tips for today's meeting and for getting a statement following diagnosis?

You dont need schl to apply for statement, u best off doing it as parent. But you need people like teachers to concur that he has problems. These need to be serious (affecting health and safety of him and others? Mental health worries?) Or they will fob u off with schl action plus or a dinner lady being with him 4 an hour a wk. Charming but icily determined was always my way!gd luck!
