ds2 12 and in year 7 , having problems , been to camhs and we are going to be seen by the psychologist .
school mentioned a while back about having him go in what they call the 'think ' room. i am assuming its a quiet room for kids with problems. i said that i felt that would be a bad idea as he already felt like a loser (his words) and to him that would just confirm it.
anyway , tonight , ds2 has been sobbing and getting really distressed because his timetable has been changed and hes now being made to go in the think room.
he says its for psychos and he just wants to be normal and feels like a freak and an idiot being sent there.
he desperately wants to fit in and as yet we dont know why he is so unhappy and having problems keeping friends and having massive suicidal flip outs.
this bloody think room is NOT going to help.
and surely they could hsve agreed it with me first ?
my heart is breaking for him i am so sad Sad
he was one of the crowd at primary , played footy everyday with all the rest . i wish we could go back Sad

oh dear, I'm so sorry for you guys. If he's so unhappy at school I think some serious intervention needs to happen. I say this because secondary school was so horrendous for me aswell.
I don't know what the answer is though. Just bring it up at meetings and talk it through as much as poss?

No idea! Is he being sent there to calm down or chill from over stimulation - or more from (perceived) misbehaviour. Can ds suggest a viable alternative that will work for him? (For instance a soothing repetative chore/ computor room/ library time).
