My 2.7yr old is extremely verbal, but she has a bit of stammering.

If she wants to say something she says 'I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I am good at drawing'

and

'Can I have the, the, the, the, the, the, the the, the banana'

And

'I don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't like oranges'.

Is this okay/habbit/something she will grow out of that will get me laughed out of the SLT office, or does it need looking at?

She is worse when she has been told off or is unsure of herself. She doesn't do it all the time.

TIA

Have a look at
Stuttering: An Overview,
and there are more research papers in my PubMed Stuttering and Cluttering research paper collection.

Thanks Working, I have a developmental check thing with the HV next week for her (have stopped doing them for most families but we are 'at risk' due to ds) and I was going to skip it since they denied there was any problem with ds despite having glaringly obvious red flags for asd, so I can't see how they would have any inkling about dd, - but perhaps I'll go now and get a referral for SLT, even if it is just to get some ideas about what I can do.

Will it involve bubbles? Wink
