We are in the statementing process, got EP reports (she says possible ASD with PDA). Im taking my parental views that I did for the statement as it basically covers all developmental history etc. EP only managed to complete half the WISC IV test with my son during assessment, is the paed likely to complete this tomorow? Shes got to write her report for the assessment. Myself and my mother are not wanting my son to be labelled with PDA if it isnt, am i likely to get some answers tomorow does anyone know? Thankyou. x

Hi, I can only share my own experiance and it des vary from area to area. At the first appointment, a developmental history was taken and a brief examination. They will then refer on to other proffs (Physio, CAMHS etc)

However slightly different scenario to yourself as this was the first person we saw, have only just saw EP one year on from paed app. If you already have everything wrote down that is a lot better because it is easy to forget something (if you are anything like me).

Not sure if you will get answers at the actual app, in our case I know they have a case meeting with all proffs in the area and discuss their views on all the children they have seen.

Good luck x

Hi we saw a community paed when my daughter was dx with ADHD. On first app they took full history including birth details etc then she was given a thorough examination (apparently they were looking for birthmarks) and was asked to perform simple pulling/pushing strength tests. We then got referred to a developmental paed for next appointment. Good luck

Thankyou for your reply mof3, referals and assessments are so mind bending arent they! chundle i have been told by the local hospital that a community paed IS a developmental paed? perhaps they have different names in different areas. oh gosh dont know how far they will get if they want to give him a full examination! hes had soooo many hospital admissions/investigations he is not very compliant to being poked and prodded, shows my naivity when it comes to developmental checks in older children Smile

Brandy my dd was not compliant either! She was asked to take jeans and tshirt off and she refused to take jeans off point blank!it was only so paed could see if any birthmarks or cutaneous markers so I had to assure doc there wasn't!

why did the paed want to look for birthmarks chundle? seems odd. x

dont think I will have a problem if hes got to undress now as he said he can show the doctor a few of his wrestling moves, lol . Hes been in just underpants like a wrestler for some weeks now whilst throwing himself recklessly off furniture to the ground and pinning down his teddy Smile
