Why cant anything be easy! My 15yr old daughter has C/Palsy, right sided hemiplegia, epilepsy, speech and learning difficulties etc etc etc. I have just had a letter home from school about "transition" it says that her Physiotherapy, O/Therapy and Speech Therapy and being transferred to adult services! I am so angry - they are doing this because we have refused to put her into the Special Needs annex of a local college and want her to attend the post 16 college attached to a special needs school. If she transfers to adult services and attends the college she will loose her school transport and her statement of educational needs.

Her attainment in school is level 2/3 so she isnt going to pass exams but they say to get into the special needs post 16 provision she must only attain level 1.
We discussed all this with this school who agreed not to move forward with transitions until we could agree on what would happen with her post 16 - they are now firing on ahead regardless. Feel like Im on the loosing side every time we battle to get anything for her.

Does anyone have any advice?

I hate to say this but if everything is being put in place for when your ds 18
surely this is good news. I shouldn't think she will go to adult phy /or speech therapy before she is 18 .
Transition should start at age 14 , my ds will be 18 in
2 months and we are constantly on the phone trying to get everything in place
i.e healthcare ,respite, direct payments,
I think you must have a better local authority then me .

I dont know if I am well placed to offer advice but if you feel that the agenda is to cut transport and her statement of educational need - it probably is.

My older son went to mainstream college and he had his statement ceased without agreement. He also lost his tranpsort funding and will be without education come september as he is not keepiing up with the work.........so my advice would be go with your gut instinct and stick to your guns. Hope it all works out well for you fibiek and I can certainly empathise with the Feeling like Im on the loosing side every time we battle to get anything as that's how I feel too :)
