Quick - need to decide on Spanish or French for Secondary!

Sorry to be brief, just realised I need to send form back to secondary school by tomorrow, they need to know whether DS wants to do Spanish or French in Y7.

He's had Spanish "lessons" (after a fashion, I think half an hour a week?) at Primary, and I know he didn't like the lady teaching it.

We have issues with SpLD - delayed speech, language development, ADD, borderline dyslexic.

I would say Spanish over French, what think?

I would go with Spanish as IMHO it's an easier language to learn.

It's easier to read once you know the basic sounds and the rule about which part of the word has the emphasis put on it. It seems to have fewer irregular verbs. It's a much more logical language. These are the things that seem to make a difference if you already have issues with speech & language.

thank you coppertop, that makes sense and confirms what I was leaning towards.

Spanish for the following reasons:
1.) "reading rules" are easier and there are fewer combinations of rules you have to remember.
2.) fewer ortographical extras: Spanish only has one type of accent (apart from the umlaut in special cases) whereas French has three.
3.) Spanish grammar is somewhat simpler.
