Before we went away I emailed HT about dd's AR to arrange a meeting so that we could discuss contributions for dd's AR and decide the path it would take.

Being totally preoccupied with ds's placement fight I had mistaken the date and so it is 9.15am on the first day back rather than the Friday as I thought

Even worse I haven't even written mine yet never mind handed it in for distribution

So HT emailed me today saying he'd been away too and offering to phone me tomorrow once he'd fetched all dd's paperwork so that we can go through it all and discuss what we want from the AR.

That way there are no surprises when the LIO is there and we are all singing from the same sheet.

It's nice to know that he'd take time out of his holidays to ensure that the AR goes ahead with no hitches because I worry constantly that because dd does so well the LIO might question the need for a statement.

Making sure we provide enough evidence that it should be maintained means that I can relax a little on that front anyway.

Parents here have so many bad experiences with schools I thought I'd post and let you know there are people out there prepared to go the extra mile for a child with SEN.

:)

What is AR and LIO?

Thanks for sharing. It is easy to get the wrong impression on this board. There are good schools / HTs / SENCOs / people out there......

Sorry Annual Review (of the statement) and Local Inclusion Officer (much disliked as she holds the coffers and would obviously like to save money)

It is nice to hear of a MS HT that is pro-active for SEN children; we know they must be out there somewhere, it's just like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Make sure you keep hold Smile.

He's a good HT, the school has a very high proportion of SEN children with a huge range of disabilities probably because he welcomes them and fights alongside their parents to ensure they get the support they need. No wonder I travel to get there rather than going local Wink
