Time for written reports

How long have you had to wait for written reports from professionals? DS was given an official diagnosis of autism back in January, with the promise of a written report and another meeting to discuss said report. The report still isn't here more than 3months later. I have a letter written about 2months ago saying it was in draft format awaiting formal verification and signatures. Spoke to the department on the phone about a month ago (they phoned me about something else) and they were very evasive and wouldn't say anything about how long it was going to take...
I really want to see the report before I talk to DSs school about help for him - as school didn't see any issues before (are starting to now in fairness now they are looking) but autism team saw autism straight away there so presume report will show how he is presenting in school.
How long do I give them before I start hassling them?
(Starting to worry that they got the diagnosis wrong and are wondering how to tell me!)

3 months seems unreasonable to me. Is this report coming from a paediatrician? I wasn't sure from your post. EP or educational autism teams don't DX, is it a different sort of autism team? Or have I misunderstood? The multi-agency type of assessments vary loads from area to area, it seems. Did your paed observe your DS at school?

It was the school age autism assesssment team - NHS, it was a 4hour developmental history questionnaire, they assessed in school, then a pyschiatrist and psychologist did an ADOS.

So, yes, I get it now! Sorry. If they have done all the observations and ADOS then it just looks like they are being a lot bit crap at getting the report out. I'd hassle them in writing, I expect they've got a backlog, but a bit of complaining should bump you up, hopefully. Put in your letter/email that you are getting worried that they are being less than informative on the phone and is the DX still sound, etc.

Ds got his dx early January this year and we got his final written diagnosis report on April Fools Day of all days. I would chase it again. I do know ours was delayed because each professional had to approve it, then the Paediatrician had to sign it off before it could be released, even though he wasn't directly involved with the assessment. (It was a multi-disciplinary assessment, done by the specialist ASD team.)
