DD2 had ADOS testing yesterday and they rang with score, saying she meets score for dx of ASD. Now its no surprise to us at all, and have been working with proffessionals for the last year, and she goes to a Autistic preschool but wondering if anyone has an idea of if score gives idea of where she is ect? I was just told score and that she meets scoring for ASD rather than full autism (again no surprise to us).

I know they were going to tell me she had ASD but still not nice to hear :( we also have to wait a further month to see pead to tie up loose ends and also means no imput from autistic advisory services yet :(

Someone will know. It's all too new for my DS to have had it, but he was firmly ASD. It's still a shock to get it in 'black and white' however much you've been expecting it. There's always some secret hope that, actually, they're fine really. I hope you give yourselves some time to be upset about this, but then bounce back, fighting, lisa. (((hugs)))

This old thread here might be useful.

WGC?

They didn't do the ADOS when ds was dx!

So sorry to hear of your dx though. Just because you are expecting a smack in the face doesn't mean it hurts less.

ALthough, honestly, do you WANT input from AAS?

lisad123isasnuttyasaboxoffrogs · 20/04/2011 22:11

Not wgc :)
Love the smack in the face lol very true :(
Yes kinda need more help with her, nothing seems to work with her when she's in a mood.
Have discussed new placement and specialist salt said her new place is wonderful. :)

Who's WGC? Confused

The communication and interaction advisory teachers in my LA are fab. They were instrumental in my DS getting a statement and have been excellent (if under resourced) ever since. They were the only people who seemed to be on our side when we had the usual problems with the LA and the school. Hopefully your lot will be equally helpful.

The ADOS scores don't look as if they are very precise, Lisa. I wouldn't get too Sad. And are they the same cut off for all versions?

StarlightMcKenzie · 20/04/2011 23:05

communication and interaction? That sounds like a bit more a forward thinking LA.

Our lot kept sabotaging my relationship with the school and have given them strict instructions not to take on board anything I, as a parent suggest. On top of that they won't make available any of the advice they are given the school, to the parents, insisting that it is confidential unless the school want to tell us, which quite frankly they don't.

EllenJane1 · 20/04/2011 23:44

They sound shit, starlight! Shock Our lot don't insist on an ASD DX, hence C & I. Still a bit old fashioned but you really feel they are on parents' and children's side not LA. I've met 4 of them through my DS and the DC I support. All really nice and supportive. Probably not up to date on ABA but who in any LA is?

lisad123isasnuttyasaboxoffrogs · 21/04/2011 09:19

LA= Local authority
WGC= somewhere nearby for me and Starlight :)
