How long from Annual Review to proposed statement normally?

Anyone have any ideas? I'm guessing there is no law?

I've done a lot, but never been through an annual review so don't know the process.

According to ACE:

The LA must consider the review report and the headteacher?s recommendations. They must decide whether to change (amend) the statement and send a copy of the decision within one week of its being made.

If the decision is to amend, the process should start without delay. The LA has the final decision on amendment of the statement.

There are no precise timescales for making a decision and some parents may find delay at this point. It is important to remember that the whole review process must be completed within 12 months of the previous review.

we're about 4 weeks in waiting for dd3s proposed amended, I half expected it last week when they broke for easter but nothing yet. After all the fighting you had to get the statement in the first place I hope this is a positive move.

We're 5 weeks. I think it is a deliberate move to ensure we are past the allocation of school places as DS is going into Reception and as such can't have a place at our school of choice if the Reception is full (the law stipulates the staff/child ratios and his placement in a full class would mean the employment of an additional member of staff which would be considered unnecessary expenditure if there is a place available in an undersubscribed school).

I don't think the LA care much about the school, I think the move is to panic us into accepting whatever crap provision they put in the statement in order to ensure our place in time.

your lea are spectacularly bad aren't they, you'd have thought they'd have realised you're not going to accept a crap statement by now. I find it so frustrating having to deal with people that are constantly trying to throw obstacles in our way in the name of money.

StarlightMcKenzie · 18/04/2011 09:10

Oh yes, they are.

You know, I 'could' assume that the reason it is taking so long is because they want to do right by my ds now and know I am picky and so the document has to go to a number of professionals for their review and careful consideration, to make sure it is right.

I 'could' assume that, but I'd only be disappointed when it came.

I'm with you on that one. I think it must take time to work out how to be that vague on one document Hmm I'm not expecting dd3s to be good as she's transfering to ss. Thankfully the school place is agreed though.

any news star? Mine turned up yesterday morning after being posted on wednesday, just in time for all the bank holidays [sigh] and it's crap. Oh well, here we go again.

StarlightMcKenzie · 24/04/2011 20:53

Nothing, but then, I'm not at home atm!

How long do I have to agree/burn it?

sorry yours is crap though, I don't much expect anything else tbh. Don't think I've ever heard of a good one in fact, just the odd parent accepting it because they don't know any better, which is why of course, the LA's do it!

it's back to the statutory timescales once it's issued, so 2 weeks. Although mine is dated wednesday, it'll be tuesday at the earliest before I can even ask anyone to look at it, lost a week already, what a surprise Hmm It sort of says what I want it to say, just in the vaguest of ways Grin needless to say I won't be accepting it as it is.

enjoy your break Smile
