The deadline was last Tuesday for all the reports in. I emailed mine over and checked it had arrived, school sent theres recorded delivery. The LA appointed EP came to see us on Monday and told us he was requesting 27.5 hours 1:1 and he would send us a copy of his report. As yet we have not had it - is this normal ???? If I phone our named officer would they tell me. School haven't seen the report either.

DS - (poss Aspergers, ADD, hypermobile) really needs this as he will not work unless someone is sat at the side of him keeping him on task and school are really struggling.

Sorry, do you mean the EP report? They could easily have sent it 2nd class. Don't worry yet. If EP is recommending 27.5 hours you have a really good chance. Sometimes you don't get to see copies of the reports until the proposed statement is sent out, but it's obviously better if you get a copy before. Check post tomoz and keep chasing for a copy.

Yes the EP report - hes promised us a report before and we never got it and I'd hate for it to be missing in the statement as his AFAIW is the cruical bit ...

The LA will chase up the EP report. They won't issue the statement without it, it's the most important advice. (Is the EP the LA one or private? If private, I'd say you need to chase.)

Hes the LA one (fingers crossed then - had a crap parents evening today Sad )

Phone up your named officer. They, or the secretary there, will be able to tell you and it will help if they know it is due to arrive as they can chase it up.

I'm sorry about the parent's evening. Are the school being helpful or just negative? (Or both?) It's hard to tell the difference sometimes! They might be as impatient as you are to get a statement issued so they can start supporting your DS properly. I think they forget sometimes that children with SEN are still just children, and you want to hear how lovely they can be as well as what help they need. Give him a cuddle (if he'll let you!) and concentrate on how gorgeous he can be.

School are being both. He's very very high functioning and as such has been under the radar but now he is in Yr 3 and having to do more and more writing they are struggling. He just will not do it and refuses point blank. Nothing will make him change his mind. The EP says its because of his Hypermobility. School say its stubbornness - I think its a mix .... His social skills are lacking and he misses prompts from his friends. But he is very very loving, has a wicked sense of humour, reads/talks years above his age and adores being "scratched and stroked"

Hmm! They can be lazy buggers too! Grin They just don't care about social pressure to conform, they don't want to 'please the teacher' and they aren't afraid to say so! My DS hates writing. We finally got him an Alphasmart (simple wordprocesser with no games on like a laptop) which he uses at school. He can use it in his SATs too. May be worth investigating?
