Anyone got advice on the best touch typing teaching programme I could get for my ds1, who is an excellent speller but has low muscle tone and hypermobility (and generally needs lots of verbal instruction and physical help to learn new motor skills)???

DS learnt to type using the free BBC one for kids. Have no idea how it compares to paid for ones, but could be worth a look at.

Most people use the BBC one.

The other typing programs I know of are aimed at dyslexic children not dyspraxic:

  • Nessy Fingers

  • Touch type read

I would start off with the BBC one.....

Mavis Beacon is good.

Ds used the free BBC one and really enjoyed doing it.

We use 'speedy keys' and '2-type' at school. DOn't know how that compares to BBC one, but my ds old special school is using the BBC one.

Thanks, homeboys. That's one of the ones recommended to us by the OT. I've downloaded the free bit from their website and both my dss loved having a go at it, today, so think it might well be worth ordering.
