Prepubertal?

Hiya,

Can anyone explain this term to me. I have googled and it say that it is the stage immedicaltely before puberty where there is a growth spurt.

What I can't find is what is the 'normal' age for this for boys.

DS had bloods done to check for precocious puberty and the dos has said he is 'prepubertal'. He is only 6 yrs old, has some pubic hair, smelly feet and has developed all sorts of anxieties.

Your thoughts very much appreciated knowledgeable ladies. x

Hi shaz my nt son was eleven and it really threw him.He became upset over the slightest thing,a bit moody, was more affecinate ie plenty of cuddles needed.Became quite a private person ie bath time (that always makes me laugh as the whole world comes in for a chat when im in the bath) he told me he was getting hairs in certain places-if you see what i mean plus hairy legs and under arm hairs..All this happened when he had just started secondary school so alot of differant stuff happening all at the same time.Oh yes and the spots started to appear and ditto the smelly feet.Oh and his voice started to go funny.I think this can happen anywhere from 10-13 maybe even later for some.He went through a huge growth spurt at 12 and has been continuing to grow ever since.hth x

Thanks,

Indigo, I'm still waiting to hear form paed exactly what he means by prepubertal! So not sur ewhat they'll do. He did say he'd need to take advice but he thought the bloods indicated that he was prepubertal. No further explanation......

Growly, Hope your son has settled down emotionally......hoping it's not this for Luuk ( although it would explain his sudden anxieties) as he is only just 6 yrs old ( feb).....

xx

DS has a "condition" in which precocious puberty often occurs but the info I have only focusses on girls!
DS is 12 and over the last several months we have noticed bodily changes - hairs around his bum (I thought they were fluff and tried to clean them off!!) and his boy bits have got bigger and he is getting a bit spotty. THere are also some behavioural issues at school wwhich may or may not be associated.

I find some children just have smelly feet, lol, but if it's changed...and the pubic hair is really quite early

DS is 14 and only got pubic hair this year, DD has none and she's 10

I'd have thought 10 was about average for the first signs of puberty

And boys are supposed to be later than girls! will update when paed gets back to me. :)
