Hello.

I am wondering about getting a wobble cushion or wobble wedge for my 6 yo son..... he cannot sit still at all!

He's being assessed for ASD at the moment and one of his things is continually seeking some sort of sensory stimulus byt wriggling and throwing himself at the sofa etc..... it drives OH bonkers and he gets snarly with my DS... I'm trying to educate OH into the ways of ASD.........

I just wondered if any one had used a wobble cushion or one of the wobble wedges to any degree of success.......

Yes, My DS always has one at school. Carries it round class to class... so I assume the teachers must really appreciate it for that to happen Grin

So get one for home, and one for school.....

Yup wobble cushions are fab :) also have a look at weighted lap pads as well.

Yip, my little boy uses one in school. Really makes a difference. Am going to buy one for home too and also looking at weighted shoulder thingy. xx

Do you have special cushions? I have googled and seem to get gym equipment, something like this would be beneficial to DN, he fidgets and moves a lot while at school.

Google move n sit cushions. OT recommend them for use in schools so most schools are quite happy to use them. Occasionally they'll even pay for them.

I highly recomend this:

cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320664335743&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Bought one for my son who suffers from ASD, ADHD and GDD and it is the ONLY time I have seen him still still!

You simply rest it on their lap and it works miracles.

Thanks, I'll look at the links.

What exactly is the wobble cushion for - I mean, how does it work?
School has one and said we can try it with our DS if we want; but why do they stop the DC moving so much? :)

IndigoBell · 04/04/2011 15:23

The DC still move as much but it looks like they're moving less Grin

Ie they get to wriggle and stay seated....

Oh - cool :o
Both SENCO and I wasn't sure whether it would work, but I will ask them to give it a go.
Thanks :)
