Hi all, I know this is probably a daft question but can singing be a stim?

Dd3 sings/hums more or less constantly some days [like today].

She doesn't always sing songs, she sings words generally but they don't always make sense.

She sings bits of songs over and over again.

When she is not singing she hums.

I know it is not a serious problem but today it has nearly driven me bonkers.

It's just a constant noise going on and on and on and on and on......Grin.

Hmmm? I really don't know. Hopefully it'll be more like an obsession and she'll move on to something less irritating. (Or hopefully not more irritating) Grin

DS1 whistles as a stim and it drives me mad. At least now he whistles a few notes rather than the same one all the time...

I read in Tony Attwood that stims can be vocal, but not sure if that includes singing.

Dd3 also finger clicks and throat clears as stims although these come and go depending on stress levels.

Yes DS has had Old McDonald on the go for 2 years now. He also wakes up in the middle of the night singing over and over.

Oh no agnes, I always dread that Dd3 will start singing in her sleep.

I had to tell her to turn the volume down in the end tonight, she was singing OMG, OMG, OMG while sitting on the loo, full blast and it wasn't the usher version it was just something that had popped into her head.

She actually has a lovely voice and sings in tune most of the time, she sings in a choir and I tried to get her to have some one to one lessons but she couldn't handle it.

It is only when it goes on all day that it gets on my nerves and today was one of thoseSmile.

I agree smileandwave, it could be worse although she does her fair share of bouncing and rasberry blowing tooGrin.

She doesn't do yu-gi-oh or pokemon, we have playmobile and tracy beaker as her current obbessions.

I really thought that it was only my ds that constantly sings! He is a walking jukebox (I am thinking of hiring him out for parties. Grin)

I am sure it must be a stim, but gosh how I long for peace and quiet!
