Got a DX today!

I am happy to announce that we got a dyspraxia DX today having gone to a private OT! Grin Sounds strange to say that I am happy to get a DX but it validates what I have been saying to the school and the NHS OT for the past six months.

The NHS OT said that as on the Motor ABC test he scored above the 15th centile, he wasn't dyspraxic. Apparently his difficulties (in particular on the gross motor and sensory side) are so severe that it is amazing that he is achieving what he does. The poor thing was so physically affected by the vestibular tests that he was within a breath of puking all over the room and the poor thing looked so ill Sad. After one hour of the visual and fine motor tests, she asked me whether this was good concentration for him. My response was yes, her reaction was Confused.

We are going to start 10-15 sessions of sensory integration therapy and we still have the BABO to go to on Wednesday. The report will be in 2-3 weeks but I expect it to be very clear in terms of what his difficulties are and what the school needs to be doing. The OT was completely on the ball and understood him so well

I definitely would not have got this far without first lurking and then getting advice from you lovely ladies .

Now just for the BABO and then next Wednesday to find out if I have been made redunandant and also to have electrical tests on my nerves to see what is wrong with my back/neck.

Essex vicinity - I know that's quite a large area so if I say around Thurrock, Basildon, Chelmsford, Brentwood kind of way :)

We are using the Christmas Clinic which is in Tunbridge Wells. We are going to the Behavioural Optometrist at the Essex Country Hospital on the NHS.

Great news! Well done.

Sensory Integration Therapy should help. And after that try Retained Reflexes Therapy Grin

Seriously, really well done.

Thanks ladies. It feels like it has been forever but at only 6 months its not too bad by the scheme of things. Now to put the school in their place Grin.
