Another weekend another hospital waiting room!

Does anyone elses DC decide to wait until the weekend to get sick! Just spent 3 hours in a walk in centre for an eye infection.

2 weeks ago it was 4 hours in a&e and 3 days in hospital for a chest infection. Perhaps I should try and learn a language whilst waiting to see a doctor. Reckon I'll be fluent in a couple of months! At least I've got wise and take sandwiches and a packed suitcase for admission with me!

What do you all do to pass the time?!

Mine are never ill during doctor's normal opening hours. Its as if they know the minute the GP's surgery closes and then whoosh - up goes the temperature etc. Hmm

I've also become quite adept at packing a bag to take these days. I usually take a couple of books for me to read to them (as it keeps us both occupied) snacks and drinks for us both, some pencils and paper for colouring and hangman etc and if its ds1 his Nintendo Ds1 is an absolute must to avoid a meltdown.

To be honest though, when the're bad enough to need out of hours care, I tend to sit there with a 6 or 8 year old ds curled up on my knee, which then efficiently stops me from being able to do anything to pass the time. I'd swear time actually slows down in waiting rooms. Hmm

Hope your dc is better soon and you manage a doctor free weekend next weekend. Smile

In our house it's a Sunday, and it started even before he was born. Any probs happened on a Sunday. Born on a Sunday too. x

Ours like to explore the local A&E whenever we're on holiday. It's nice that they're pre-programmed into the sat-nav these days Grin

We had to go to the doctors once in darkest Devon/Cornwall border. I had to drive around til my phone got a signal, then ring 118118 to get a local doc's no, then plead with them to give me an appt immeadiately, not get the triage nurse to ring me back in half an hour. Waiting on top of a hill, in the rain...give me directions...

Then he had to go on a nebuliser, have steroids Shock and antibiotics.

We'd been in the cold, cold Atlantic the day before....

same here. in the last 4 month (since DD2 was born) we have been for both girls all together 3 x at a&e and 4 x at ooh GPs - weekend outings are almost always guaranteed this way...

Well it's another weekend and another mother's day in hospital. Am losing the will here Sad

Add that to the at risk of redundancy letter received on April 1st (good to know my employees have a sense of humour), things are a bit poppy.

Any kind words appreciated.

Hi ninkynonk - I'm so sorry you're having such rubbish weekend.

My dd prefers a Friday for her hospital visits, we've been there 5 out of the last 6 weeks!!!! thankfully only 1 of them was a blue flashing lights moment. We're there so often that I now pass the time chatting to the nurses as they are starting to feel like old friends...

Thank you for cheering me up and I'm sorry to those of you who have also been on the hospital merry-go-round recently.

Good news! DS (who yes, had more respiratory issues and was happily vomiting up any milk given to him), is now home after 5 days, hurray!

Roll on next weekend and whatever waiting room awaits!
