massive tantrums at home but never at nursery...

I am not sure what to think of it. DD (3, s&l delay, suspected ASD) throws the most awful tantrums at home. we have several a day and it is very exhausting for the whole family.

I have had a word with her nursery this week and it appears she doesn't do it at nursery. never. ever Shock

do your DC do the same? why would DD have these big tantrums at home but is able to kind of switch them off at nursery?

I think it's generally because they are trying so hard at nursery, but feel relaxed enough at home for their true Grin nature to come out!

No, really, they are putting a lot of effort in at school/nursery and get maybe overtired or stressed at conforming and can let it all out at home. It's the same for NT children too. It's sort of a compliment that they feel secure enough at home to behave this way, though it doesn't feel like it, I'm sure. It does show some small social awareness as well. Try to see it as a milestone reached, put some positive spin on it, might make you feel better about it?

thanks and yes ellen, it makes sense (feeling secure enough at home to let it out). assume then my DD isn't the only one who behaves that way :o
