"specified and quantified" - my back foot!

  1. Ok - My lad now has a school, but from the lea officer letter they have been FORCED to have him WWYD? He'll spot a mile off if he's unwanted and it'll impact his behavior negatively in BIG way.
  1. SALT and CAHMS not specified or quantified - wwyd?
  1. Totally ignored his sensory issues - unless you "get" he can't take noise - a lot of his behaviors (odd animal noises, running out of music lessons etc) seem really naughty. Once you understand noise REALLY bugs him his behavior is v. easy to manage. + I'll be sending him in with ear defenders/he'll be taking a fortnight off for AIT etc. It'll make me look like the mad Mum too lol!

Do I have to do that whole appeal thang? Or is there a way of getting them to sort it out like reasonable human beings?

aaaagh!

Oh and it mentions incorrectly he's just been referred to Cahms this year. He was first referred in 2009 and they've still done bugger all by way of therapy etc. Can't say I'm too concerned on this point - just being pedantic as I hate material inaccuracies.

Parts 2 and 3 are the most important bits of this whole document; if it is neither specified not quantified then it should be rejected.

I would try and contact one of the independent charities (for instance ACE, IPSEA, SOS:SEN) on Monday and read parts 2 and 3 to them verbatim. They will tell you what it should say.

IPSEA's website is worth a read anyway www.ipsea.org.uk

It may well go to Tribunal.

Absolutly agree with the other two posters. You must understand they are not reasonable human beings and are very unlikely to sort it out. You need to reject on groungs of not all needs met in part two/not appropriate provsion in part 3, and start and appeal with sendist. See here www.sendist.gov.uk/

You can continue to negotigate until tribunal so can always withdraw if you do get it specified. Do it asap as it will take a while to get to tribunal. We appealled our final statment mid Feb and our tribual date is near the end of July.
