If a school/nursery apply for this additional funding, should i exect them to offer my son more support than he is currently receiving on EYA? How much more?

I'm assuming they would only apply for the funding if they couldn't adequately meet his needs currently? or would they just apply for it regardless to bag themselves some extra money? (and who could blame them for doing that!)

Or is it really none of my business re funding Blush

I'm just too nosey for my own good sometimes and like to know the ins and outs of everything!

On EYA+ nurseries have got external professionals involved. In my LA, which may be different to yours, eya+ would mean up to 10 hours 1 to 1 at the nursery's discretion and at the nursery's cost to include the extra funding. Nothing is definitely laid down, but my LA would be very reluctant to award a statement if nurseies or schools hadn't tried and failed with 10 hours 1 to 1. If there is obvious need you can bypass this stage, but I would be asking the nursery what extra support they intend providing with this funding. It is your business as they are getting it to support your DS

totally your business, stick your nose right in, iirc they should ask you to sign a form any way. They have to prove they need the additional funding otherwise they won't get it. As to how the funding works, I believe each area can work differently, here you ask for how many additional hours you need, it's not just a flat amount, so yes, as a result of funding you should expect to see more support.

oh, and it's not being nosey, it's called being fully informed, best way!

Let the nursery apply for it and in the meantime put in your request to the LEA for a Statement application (them applying for such additional funding does not alter your right to apply for a statement). Unlike anything else offered to you, a statement is legally binding as well.
