Blue badge

If I am collecting a Blue Badge holder from, say, a train station, am I allowed to park in a disabled slot?

Well, technically perhaps it's at the train station's discretion because it's not government property in the way a double yellow or a parking meter is. But in practice they'll go by the same rules as the council will, so yes you are allowed to use it if you are parking to collect the badge holder.

However - being a private car park, they may well charge you. Our station car park charges the same amount for the disabled spaces as all the others. We park at a multistorey if we're using the train because it lets blue badge holders park free.

I'm concerned more about the distance she will have to walk, than about the cost of parking.

But I am also concerned about the cost of a parking fine! If I put a note "Collecting Blue Badge holder" in the windscreen, will that give me any protection?

will you have the blue badge in the car, or is the holder bringing it? If it is the latter it could be a problem with the car park provider and I'm not sure a note would do. Is there any way you could arrange it with the station (if it is a station?)

The holder is bringing it.

I've just been looking at the station on Google Maps, and I can't see any pArking at all, so I shall have to phone them.

it's also worth asking who has the contract for a station carpark, it's often not done by the train company so they may have no control over who parks where.

no they wont care wether your collecting someone who has the badge believe me anywhere you go its always worth checking the parking signs as a lot of places still charge or charge as a slightly reduced rate for blue badges but never under estimate these clampers and such they wont tow you but they will still ticket you even in london i got a parking ticket as it was on line said free disabled parking outside this spicific building and i put my badge in window came out and had ticket as apparently this particular bay had a suspension on it Confused i explained in letter i saw no sign anywhere explaining that but wasnt let off, then at windsor castle i got another ticket i put my badge in it was free to blue badge holders but the cars either side had parked crookedly so i had to park at a slight angle and got a ticket as i was over the white line slightly ,it would be safer frankly to pay n display if you dont have the badge

Looks like it would be best if I parked elsewhere and went to fetch the car once the train has arrived. There's a convenient pick up and drop off zone, but obviously I can't wait there.
