Piedro boots and insoles

Has anyone else had problems with the insoles lining becoming unstuck and crumpling up? Is there any reason they do this so often?

My DS has only had his current set for 2/3 weeks and it has happened again. I don't mind having to pay to keep a few in stock at home but if they do this so often we will get through loads.

He had to wait four days to get a new pair through orthotics and they originally wanted to leave him with none so they could recover his old ones, but this would have meant he had no shoes to wear.

Can you get them to make you some of the 'gel' orthotics for insoles? We have these and so far they have lasted and are far more comfortable.

They are obviously not doing the job properly. DS had lots of trouble with piedros but not the insoles.

Perhaps they are using cheaper, lower quality supplies or the insoles are just not the right type or the orthotics department is not doing their job properly...I would go back to the orthotics department.

The other people to try are the podiatrists. We spent years struggling with built-up piedros with hard insoles that got increasingly heavy, and finally got a second opinion from the podiatrists. They said try cheap trainers with soft insoles and we did. DS's mobility improved instantly!!

Thanks for the replies. I will give orthotics a ring although they don't seem too helpful.

Do you think it's worth mentioning the problem to his physiotherapist?

absolutely tiredmelly. They should be working with the physio anyway, I would have thought.
