When they say you don't have two the same, they're not kidding!

Just came back from a feedback meeting about DS2 at his ICAN unit. The SALT did an assessment and his percentile scores were 3 and 9. However, his social skills are really good and he can share/ take turns etc.

DS1 has AS, his SALT percentile scores were 98 and 63. However, his social skills are obviously serverely lacking.

Does anyone else have children which seem to bbe polar opposites in their abilities?

Oh yes. Dd1 is 6 and is ADHD and they questioning aspergers. She is very noisy and outgoing talks to anyone about anything even if they don't wish to be spoken to! She was talking in sentences at 17 months and is a very touchy feely kid. Dd2 is 18 months and has sensory integration problems and under assessment ongoing at CDC. She has few words, dislikes being touched or cuddled, dislikes social situations, can't stand close proximity to other kid and screams if they touch her. Screams if strangers talk to her, hates noise, and has only a handful of words. The only thing they have in common is their energy levels and the fact they both don't sleep!

herdie My two ds both have aspergers but seem to have the exact opposite traits. The only thing they share is the diagnosis. You know how magnets react when you hold them the wrong way?Thats what my boys are like, the hardest thing is that they both think that they are the "superior" one and that the other one is the one with all the problems.and they react badly when the other one does something they deem to be "stupid".ds1 cant stand any attention being brought on him but the ds2 might walk in such a way that attracts attention therefor sparking off a fight in the middle of the street started by ds1 who is attention shy and blaming ds2 for the percieved attention .with him not understanding that the fight started by him is the very thing that is making people stare, not his brothers walk !!does that make sense? i cant tell you how much fun it is taking them anywhere together!! teens too as if things were not hard enough:)

My two both have ASD and are like chalk and cheese in many respects. For a start, one is highly verbal and the other non-verbal, yet the non-verbal one is the more willing communicator.

Dd1 has AS is very noisy, never stops talking, hates being touched and is very paticular, Dd2 has HFA, hardly talks, loves rough and tumble and is very easy going.

Yes ds and dd have autism. Ds barely speaks, hates interaction, loves numbers, very rigid, needs routine.
Dd never shuts up, loves everyone, hates numeracy and goes with the flow.
Every area that ds has the most difficulty dd has the most ability and vice versa they are like mirror images of each other.
