Should I get to see Ed Pysch Report before it is submitted for consideration in Stat Ass't ?

The EP came to observe my son (3, ASD diagnosis) at his nursery on 25th January. The deadline for report/advice submissions for the SA was today.
Should I have seen the EP report before they submitted it to the LEA ?
The SALT sent me her report on Friday - not enough tie to comment on it really but at least I have seen it.
Are contributing reports copied to parents by the LEA once they have been collected centrally ?
I just don't want any nasty shocks (if and) when the proposed statement comes through

We were sent copies before they were submitted and could ask for changes if necessary.

I would suggest ringing the EP and asking for the report to be emailed to you.

The LEA will send you a copy of all reports when you get a proposed statement, go over them with a fine toothcomb!

HTH and good luck

ALL the pros sent me draft copies, there were a couple of minor corrections needed (e.g ds milk protein not lactose intolerant) but it was all very amicable.

They also called to check I understood all their obscure professional terminology etc, which was really helpful as I'm still learning the SEN "lingo".

I didn't get to see the EP report until after the draft statement came through which back then I didn't have enough knowledge to query. I'd ask the EP directly.

I asked my EP right after the assessment, and was told I would be sent a copy the same time as the LA.

Than you everyone - I emailed her today and she is sending a copy (which has already been submitted to the LEA). Why oh why did I not chase this a month ago so I could have had a chance to comment on it. After reading the other recent thread about how much clout the EP has I feel quite worried. She has only met my son once and now I realise his future might lie in the contents of her report

I rewrote our EP report (she was utterly useless) before it was submitted. However, I didn't get to see the SALT or OT reports before they were submitted despite trying. It sometimes depends on the individuals/health authority involved. I guess the ones who know that their reports are likely to be contentious include no provision don't want the parents to see the reports before it goes to the LA.

Our EP showed us everything and gave us the impression that this was considered good practice as parents have a right to see what is written about their child.

I'm an EP. I try to send my reports to parents before the LA and state that if they would like to discuss anything, to contact me by X date, otherwise I will assume that they are happy with the report and send it to the LA.

I used to meet parents and talk through the reports before submission (many of the parents I work with are not confident in English). Increasingly now, because we are short staffed and there has been a massive increase in SA I have found myself sending them out at the same time as the copy to the LA.

Part of the issue is that there are quite tight timescales for report submission and so if your diary is full for a couple of weeks it can make getting it hard to get the assessment out to parents beforehand. But Starter's EP is right, I think, that it is good practice.

If you haven't had a copy of the report, just give the EP a ring and ask for one.
