Social Stories

My ds (nearly 8) has Aspergers and is timetabled to have 5 x 1/2hr social stories sessions p/w. The TA puts together a story on a subject, say loud and quiet voices, and we are invited to look at it with ds at home too as it comes home in his bookbag. So far so good. Problem is he has the same social story all term. The Austism specialist who visits school says it should be max 3 weeks then replaced with another. Teacher says TA insists it should be all term. I'm new to all this. Anyone know how long social stories should last. Ds is very bright and I want to make the most of his timetabled time. Cheers.

What does his statement say? And who writes them? Chances are the TA has to write them and has had minimal training...

Agree with Autism Specialist not TA. Pointless he needs time to put what he learns into practice and then re-visit if necessary, spending all term on one is unproductive and wasting precious time x

Thank you so much for your replies. He has just been awarded a Statement which just says social stories 5 x per week, no detail. He only has this TA for this part of his support and has had her since Jan. I happen to know that she has an Aspergers daughter so the school treats her as their expert, although as we all know Aspies are all different! I trust the Autism specialist 100% - she has known DS since 2008. I'm just wondering if I can insist the school takes the specialist's advice. Probably can't!

You could ask for a meeting with the teacher, TA and autism specialist to discuss his progress and bring it up then.
