Hi,
I have a 5yold girl. She has great character and presence but relative to her siblings and other children I know she reacts more strongly to every emotion. Her behaviour is good, school is good but she does not seem 'anchored' in herself. I thought it would pass with time (maturity) but in every day this is a challenge for her whether she is happy, sad, excited, angry, frustrated.

It may be nothing, but I would like to pursue some gentle therapy that might help her manage her emotional reaction or progress her emotional development.

Any suggestions
I live in midlands, Ireland!
Thanks

hi perfectt your dd just sounds like my dd a few years ago we have worked very hard on emotions we did a diary each during the day and exchanged them in the evening and talked about our emotions and how we could deal with them and came up with coping strategies for feeling angry etc. as your daughters only 5 she could draw in the diary smiley faces etc and a reminder of what made her happy etc. worth a try because my dd still uses the strategies now she's 17 we also did a relaxation time at bedtime eg soothing music and shoulder massage with some essential oils my dd loved this as it was the only time she could relax and unwind. hope this helps

if you google "feelings faces" you can print out a page with all sorts of different expressions; she could pick how she's feeling, cut it out and stick it in her diary. You can choose colours to reflect feelings also.
