feel free to add any gems of advice you have received during the statementing process.

The above from both the statementing officer and Parent Partnership, when I asked why DS' provision is not being quantified

Oh no...not the Tribunal too?

Another reason for not quantifying my son's statement is that "They don't like to"...

I do like the definition of severe and complex = needs a feeding tube.

I wonder if there is an equivalent forum to this where professionals share "useful" arguments etc?

A recent one from our CAMHS team in response to my referral for help with emotional literacy:

"Unfortunately we are unable to offer a service to help J recognise emotions as this is a fundamentally intrinsic aspect of the condition he has, namely Asperger's Syndrome."

In other words, tough titty, he's autistic so just deal with it.

There's nothing at all in my area now - absolute zilch. In some ways it's quite liberating to know there's no point in pursuing services that aren't there Wink.

trust....mmmm.....

When we first tried to get respite:
SW'Oh perhaps he doesn't fit the criteria'
me:Can I have a copy of your written criteria ?'
sw:Oh...we don't have that....perhaps it's to do with his age'
me:Do you have an age limit?
SW 'no'
me: (reeled off all ds's difficulties and diagnosis)
'so it's not the criteria-it's not his age?....'

when it was time to statement
Oh he'll get everything he needs without a statement
ha ha ha ha ha ha ....really?HmmHmmHmm

We have respite and a statement---currently being updated so it actually means something;so I will be asking for advice soon !

'your ds needs to learn how to learn without being motivated!'

Shock

Did you ask him how he'd suggest doing that then?

LA admissions team "we don't really care about children with physical disabilities, they aren't our priority"
Me " that is discrimination under the Equalities Act 2010"
LA Ad Team "It is not discrimination yet as you haven't applied and been turned down yet!"
