i use eye Q for my son (5) and have done for about a year. it has been a wonder drug for me iykwim

he is now much calmer and will sleep for up to 7 hours a night.

my only problem is the fact that he wont take it from a spoon so i have to try and disguise it in other things....usualy a pro-bio drink as they are quick and easy and thick enough to disguise the oily eye q. but it only comes in two variaties either vanilla or citrus. so sometimes its diificult to disguise it.

oh and its shockingly expensive. £10 a bottle, thought thankfully he now gets it on prescription

Hi Shey, from what little I know, EyeQ is not as pure as Eskimo kids. I buy a large bottle of Eskimo kids every 2 months as it contains far more EPA (and DHA?) than EyeQ and is only one 5ml teaspoon per day compared to lots of tablets of EyeQ...therefore more economical.

From what I gather, the EyeQ can send kids hyper - although when I stopped it with my ds, he started being extremely violent and hostile.

I'm not sure that helps, but am sure an expert on oil will be on soon.

DS hated eyeQ

MMof2 - glad you get it on prescription - they would not do it where I live. The Eskimo Kids is £16.50 per bottle but does last 2 months exactly.

I know that last year, EyeQ bought out a different type, which is in a little thin sachet which contains the equivelent of 5 teaspoons of oil - it is yoghurt flavour I think. Also, they do granules, but don't know if you would be able to get those on prescription.

Also tried both & Eskimo seems to last longer & can be taken off the spoon. Had to put eye Q in juice so didn't always get all of it down - I tried a spoon of it once to see what it was like & spent 10 mins retching!! Have tried Eskimo too & altho' still quite vile (luckily ds takes it no probs!!) it's palatable.

thanks so much. I am going surfing now to try and get some.

Advice from our nutritionalist...

DO NOT use Eye q for children who have problems with hyperactivity. It contains virgin evening primrose oil and can make the hyperactivity a lot worse. She recommended bog standard Omega 3 capsules from the health food shop.
