Grin

My eldest has just come downstairs. It's one of his Not Going To Sleep nights Grin

me "I love you"
him "ok"
me "the correct response is 'I love you too Mum'"
him "WHAAAAAT? That's a stupid response"

Now, happy as I am that it was a well formed sentence, and he clearly knew what 'response' meant Grin I would have preferred "I love you too, Mum" Grin

My DS2 has a thing about my hair. He's 11 now and has twiddled my hair since he was less than a year old.
Q Do you love me?
A I only love your hair.
Q Do you love Daddy?
A No, and I hate his hair.
I think it started out as a bit of a joke but he has never said he loves me since he was about 4 or 5. Oh well, at least he loves part of me!

I know he tolerates loves me really.

I feel better now!

DS1 never tells me he loves me. Sad

EllenJane1 · 22/02/2011 19:46

Grin Grin ha ha "get daddy". Still laughing...

HelensMelons · 22/02/2011 19:56

Lol! made me laugh, how reassuring!

My pre-bedtime chat:

DS: I love you mummy.

Me: That's only because I'm giving you a huge bowl of icecream! (he laughs)

Hands him huge bowl of icecream and gave him an extra scoop for being lovely (even though it's cupboard love!)x

Me "DD2 I love you"

DD2 "You said that last week"

Me "I can say it again can't I?"

DD2 "What's the point?"

BialystockandBloom · 22/02/2011 23:44

Rofl at "what's the point?" Grin Grin

EllenJane1 · 23/02/2011 00:07

I tried out our 'do you love me' game again with DS2 just to check.
Got to 'do you love daddy?'
DS2 'No, not one bit.'
Told DH and we both rofl.

Thanks for this thread. Too easy to forget they can be an absolute joy. Smile

BialystockandBloom · 24/02/2011 20:39

Ds says 'hannah i love you' like a little robot. ( my name)

Me:'i love you too'
ds 'hannah I love you'

can go on for hours, it's fantastic... Even if it is a repeated phrase from my bf lol

EllenJane1 · 25/02/2011 20:08

Lucky you! Just don't change the game...

LaydeeC · 27/02/2011 00:17

my son NEVER tells me he loves me - can't really remember a time when he did.
Is it bad to feel really jealous of friends that have sons who do tell them and who do give them a hug?
Now at the age of 13.6 and I guess I finally realise that he means it when he says 'I don't know' in response to the 'you must love me just a little bit' from me.
