Am I the only stupid person in the UK?

Last month, I signed up to a motability car on behalf on my DD2 - great worry free motoring!

I have just been informed by a friend, that I won't be insured if I use the vehicle outside of DD benefit.

I knew it was for her benefit or actions on her behalf - BUT I didn't realise that I couldn't use it to take any of my other children out & about, if DD2 wasn't in it.

This was NOT explained to me by the dealer when I signed on the dotted line.

Am I now liable to pay for & take receipt of the now ordered car?

I do not want 2 cars. I do not have room to park 2 cars.

It was after months of deliberation that I pursued this scheme.
We need a larger vehicle for DD2's equipment.

Sht Sht Sh*t

From a very unhappy, confused and teary Mummy.

They'll make you pay the higher rate unfortunately. It might be worth seeing if the grants team can help though

When I ordered my car I was very excited and relieved, a worry free motoring.
Well I have discovered that is not the case.
I was not told that the insurance was not fully comprehensive in fact I was told it cover me and my carers, it was all Inclusive worry free.
All I had to do is put the petrol in!

If you are disabled due to a car accident what do you thi k your priority would be?
Well you are not covered for any personal injuries it seems
I was rammed in the rear whilst stationary and received severe whip lash, strained back, sciatica, headaches, anxiety, eye problems. Set back recovery.i started physiotherapist treatments and then after three weeks I m to,d that the lawyer hasn’t approved further? When the go I visited stated I should have ten hours
Session.
Here I am today after a heavy painful weekend and prevented from the physio. I the. Discover that I am not covered for personal Injury, they give so much as it can be claimed back, if liability not an issue I. Other words I am passed onto a lawyer by rsa on a no win no fee arrangement!
Not what I as told
In face not even sent through a client care letter!
The lawyers haven’t worked on the file for four weeks
They tell me that the joker has denied liability even though there is a witness, so the lawyer who are Carpenters are now very rude, unhelpful. They haven’t even bothered speaking to the independent witness! Seems they only listen to the defendant ,
So any injuries are not covered
Wonder if the other sides injuries are covered or not?
This has been completely misrepresented to me
It is not worry free motoring.
I pointed out I pay a fee every month for the car. I was told by RSA that I didn’t pay for insurance it was in the package! Which I pointed out is part of the fee. And that they have told me I had full insurance cover. Worry free motoring! I wasn’t at any time advised to get a top up insurance nor offered this option, why would I when you ve told me I’m insured?
Very sad - not sure I’m interested in driving again

Does anyone know if I get a mobility car on the scheme, can I keep the free car tax on the bigger engined car I own, which I use for travelling distance.

AngelWillis · 21/08/2019 11:52

If you get a mobility car, but you also own a car can you keep the exempt tax on your car and just pay the tax on mobility car.

Hi there, I’m new on here. Can anyway help out with a question please?
I have a motability car but a lot of times I go out with my sister in her car. She is not insured to drive the motability as she prefers her own car.
I do not want to sound greedy but do you know if I can get her free tax?

Short answer, no. have a look at this document

assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/782597/ins216-how-to-apply-for-free-
disabled-tax.pdf

Who can apply for the free vehicle tax
The registered keeper, who can be:
• the person with the illness or disability
someone who uses their vehicle only for the ill or disabled person

The key is uses their vehicle ONLY for you, so no, she's not eligible for free road tax because she also uses her vehicle for herself and only sometimes uses it for you

I am finding this all very confusing. We have 5 children (some are adults!) All have high mobility rates. We have a mobility car seating 6 and two wheelchair places. Mobility only take one payment despite putting in the 2 wheelchair equipment darkened windows for eldest son and plinths for the girls (adults) as they are tiny with heart problems. Insurance is only for dh as I will not drive the monstrousity.
