Annual Review question

Although we are "veterans" of the annual review, something has cropped up that I'm not sure about and don't want to make an idiot of myself in case I'm wrong.

THe letter came today inviting us to DS'sannual review and stating that school will send us their report approximately one week before the review.
Accompanying the letter is a leaflet from Parent Partnership tht says all the reports should be sent out (by the HT) at least two weeeks before the review. Does any one know if this is correct - we usually end up chasing school and sometimes only get their report a few days beforehand. Also would it be in order to ask school ahead of the review just who they have asked for reports?

TIA!

Hmmm...technically, everyone should be invited 6-8 weeks before the review, reports submitted to the school 2 weeks prior, and copies of all reports circulated at least 10 days before.

I have had DD1's last week (first one) at her Special School, and I only got the letter inviting me to write a report 2 weeks and 3 days before the Review.

They were very laid-back, and said I could write something up to 3 days before, or even just say 'I'll let you have my comments afterwards'.

Also, the reports from professionals may just be addended to the AR document.

I suppose it depends...if you feel there are important changes to be made, you might want a more formal approach. For us, DD1 has only been at the school since September, so I didn't care what they said at AR, as long as they think she is in the right place and don't want to take her support away. She is in a class of 7 with 4 staff, though, so very well provided for.

The invite is for April - so we have plenty of time to get them in, but I know they are very late at getting stuff sent back out - some of it is not their fault - sensory support used to post theirs directly to me and I nearly always found it waiting when I got home from the review!

It's a special school too, so I know they have lots of them to do and usually I only hassle them if we are very near the date - it's just obviousa that they haven't read the leaflet they are sending out (and I'm a bit anti school at the mo!)

DS is 12 and still has his first statement, with minor amendments as he's at the same all age school. To be honest it's a bit very vague so it's been hard to say it no longer applies but I'm wondereing if we should be thinking of a major re-vamp

Starfish- I'm at the same stage, though ds is younger- I asked for major changes this year as I felt the statement did not reflect ds as he is now

I also read guidelines of 2 weeks, but got them later than that

We can't make the date they have suggested for the review anyway so I will write a note and ask nicely if they can clarify when we can expect the reports as they have sent conflicting information.

sen cop states that all reports must be circulated 14 days before the review to all parties.

Thanks chatee - I will quote that to them if necessary! (I expect they will try to wriggle out of it somehow!)
