not sure I can be much help. But ds1 was tongue tied and had his op at 3, he had a block of 6 weekly salt sessions. It took a while and I'm not convinced the salt actually made that much of a difference in the end. All the tongue tie did for him was change his pronunciation which eventually has all come good, he had to relearn all the words he knew, but he was already speaking in sentences.

How long ago did he have the op? My concern would be the lack of language on top of the mispronunciation. Has the salt not commented on this? Does she have any concerns about any other areas of his development? I'd definitely be pushing hard for further investigation/more therapy. Does he get support in school or have a statement?

My DS (1.5) is tongue tied, no op yet. DD (5, ASD) has SALT through the NHS and we were told by her SLT that short term problems are given the 6 sessions and anything else is given the usual once a term visit. School should be following instructions from SALT in school, DD gets two 15min sessions a week. We sought out extra SALT.

Id ask for another assessment, second opinion, copies of reports and a proper dx.

Cerebra do vouchers for children who do not get regular direct SALT.

She should apply for a Statement of SEN (see IPSEA) and request regular SALT as a reason for the statement.

Does she get DLA etc which could pay for some private SALT?

ok, so it's been a long time since the op, I would now have serious concerns that there was something else language wise going on and would be pushing hard for further assessment. I think it would be a very good idea to mention statementing to her, may be you could give her the phone number for someone like ipsea or print some info off? She may well be told by the school that she won't get a statement but that's not necessarily the case, she can apply herself. In the meantime cerebra will be a good start.

thanks bigcar i told her the ipsea as im going through statementing for DS myself and i told her she can still apply for one and they may be saying no to her just to save money
