Long battle re statement. No dispute about the fact that DS1 needs sensory integration therapy. However, NHS OT offered 4 sessions which we've already had and that was put into draft statement.
I pointed out that the statement didn't include any provision for OT since we had already had it and we had been told that we wouldn't get anymore. In addition, we had a strong report from our private OT who said he needed weekly SIT.
It went to panel who said they wanted more information from the NHS OT about how much therapy they feel he needs. I assumed that we wouldn't get much more from them but I've just spoken to the SEN team and apparently they just received a letter from them and agree he would benefit from weekly SIT and have offered it to us for 6 months!!!!
I am gobsmacked. It has to go back to panel next week but surely they can't turn down a request which has been agreed by both the NHS and private OTs?
Just shows what can happen if you kick up a fuss....
Still waiting to hear the outcome of my complaint about speech therapy.
