Vibrating Balls? (No, this is not supposed to be a rude question!)

Both Helena's SALT and Portage therapists have a huge bag of toys and gizmos for engaging the interest of SN kids. Both of them include some sort of vibrating ball - a rubber thing where you pull a string and it vibrates as the string winds in and then stops. Helena seemed more interested in this than anything else in the bag. Neither of them can remember where they got it from (they just keep an eye out for stuff in their free time and pick up bits and pieces from all over) so I was wondering - has anyone else got one, or seen one anywhere?

Thanks!

I have a vibrating monster if you would like it? Similar thing, pull out the string and it vibrates til the string stops.

ok. please dont be offended bythis sugestion.
but have you tried a pet shop??

sounds silly i know but we got my kitten some of those pull the string and it vibrates tiys. they had them in all sorts of shapes from mice to snakes to allsorts.

im sure if you buy it new there si nothing wrong with giving it to a child as tehy have to be safe if they are for pets to chew and play with.

I know what you mean, lottie loves the one they have at hospital, and good for her muscle tone.
i'd really like one for her.
maybe some one like argos or topys for us?

Us speechies in the field of SN couldn't do without our little bags and boxes of tricks.
I have loads!!

I would recomment looking at Snoezelen or Rompa websites for electronic/battery operated equipment (sorry, haven't the addresses to hand)
For smaller things, try Hawkins Bazaar catalogue and website-not specifically SN oriented but its absolute fantastic. I have just ordered lots of wacky bits and pieces for Christmas presents and work.

Lots of the kids I work with like strobe/disco light type things too which are often pricey form specialist companies but good and cheap from Argos like TC says.

(I also like the distorting mirrors from IKEA)

I just got a new catalogue called Spacekraft which is full of that stuff. You can request their catalogues on line at www.spacekraft.co.uk
The SN-specific stuff is more pricey but there's so much, I am looking forward to an hour or so browsing (saaaad). I used to haunt ToysRUs, Woollies, Argos etc for this sort of stuff and Hawkings Bazaar too.
