DLA for an 'indetermined period'

My friend has just been awarded DLA for an 'indetermined period'. I've heard of lifetime awards but has anyone heard of this and know what it means?

Wondered whether it's the new govt preparing to muck DLA about?

Not come across that one before - my DD had her HR care & mobility granted til day before 16th BD and then renewed in 8/10 without an end date (doesn't even say 'for life'). Just says in notes they will review from time to time to make sure she is getting right amount!
Assume your friend's letter has new wording to cover the fact that they will be reviewing everyone (including my DD) anyway in next few years if new PIP comes in.

Yes, that is what I thought. It's worrying as people won't know when they will have to go through it all - or something else - again

If it's the government then it must be a very recent change. Ds2's award letter arrived mid-January and lasts until 2013.

Coppertop. 2013 is the proposed date the govt intend to start switching existing DLA claimants over to new PIP (if it is approved) - so that's possibly why they've put that date on your letter - although I believe children are to be switched at a later date.
