Secure changing tables

Hi there,

We're struggling to find any one who can advise on a changing table for our disable son that has secure sides or restraints to stop him from falling off or getting trapped.

Anybody got any suggestions or ideas?

Rgds.

His bed no good?

I don't know, but how old is he-? When ds was very young,I used the floor and a mat - if he is older,an OT should be able to help you

do you need a hospital bed? - it will go up and down to the right height for you and for getting him on/off onto the floor or his chair.

Mine has sides that go up and down.

Sorry thats all I can think of.

Hi there, not sure how old your ds is but this change mat is a safety harness changing mat so you can strap them in:

Is that the kind of thing you mean?

Looking at that mat: unless it's somewhere safe itself (ie on the floor/somewhere with secure sides) I can't see what would stop the baby rolling off, mat and all.

Depends how active/mobile your DS is.
I have option to change DD (16) on her hospital bed with sides or has a changing/shower table built into electrically height adjustable bath which was installed last year using DFG. Shower table has guard which clips on (other side is against wall) so she won't roll off if I have to move away to get something. DD is very immobile though and do not think this arrangement would be safe for child who can pull themselves up. Speak to the OT attached to your Disabled children's team who should be able to advise.

All, thanks for all of your responses. Our DS is 5 and has a lot of movement but no control over the movement. He has a bock bed but the sleep system in the bed makes it no use for changing him in.

Out OT is struggling to find a solution that is safe enough for DS.
