Hello,

Not posted on her for a while but my DS is 5 and has ASD.

One of my aunties picked DS by his arms and I have since found marks. They do not look like grab marks but like carpet burn marks but at top of his arm.

Now I am worried about if the school will think I done them? DS can be fairly strong if being restrained and I have been in tears all day wondering what the school will think and inform someone it was us!!

I am going to go into school tomorrow and explain but still worried!

Just wanted people's advice really?

Thanks xx

I wouldnt worry about it, dd had unexplained marks at the top of her arms...I blamed nursery, they hadnt a clue what had happened. Looked like carpet burns, was possibly due to them changing the size of the carpeted steps in the classroom during holidays??

All 5 year olds have accidents....I think it would take a lot more to raise any red flags. xx

But the thing is they are the same both sides....as in someone grabbing him! :-( Been in tears all day x

Anna.. I had this with ex dh.. ( he had separated the boys when they were fighting)... I just went in and explained.. It was fine :)

might be worth letting school know that you have let aunt know and shell be revising how she handles him.. And that she feels awful :)

The marks were the same for dd...both sides, carpet burns. I can only presume she fell across the steps....or maybe someone at nursery grabbed her? Hmm

Anyway as carrot said, a short explaination will suffice....hes not going in with marks every week, stop worrying.

I can tell you categorically that staff generally only worry about marks on the trunk of the body. Other marks on limbs are flagged up if they are regular.

They understand entirely that children have accidents or play rough.

Try not to worry yourself.

Have a cuppa [smile}
