Anyone come across DVDs which teach adding/subtracting?

My autistic DS learns really well through DVDs - and pretty much learnt his alphabet, his numbers, colours and many other words through a combination of Baby Bumblebee and Jolly phonics DVDs. But I have never come across one that teaches addition or subtraction, in nice, visual ways. Anyone seen anything? I have tried Numicon on Moondog's excellent recommendation, but I'm looking for a DVD to play for him in wind-down time in the evenings.

I wouldn't expect him to learn these skills from DVDs in the same way as he learned phonics, colours, etc. It's a different sort of skill which he he'll learn from being active. If I were you I'd explore the many maths games you can download on the internet until you find one that engages him.

I fully understand where you're coming from and I've struggled with my DD2 who is currently being assessed for ASD. It took me hours of surfing to find a couple of games which she enjoyed but they did work really well once she was engaged.

Yes, will try that. It's just that he's not (unlike many autistic kids) that interested in the computer as a medium for learning, but he does absolutely love DVDs. But you make a good point about the different sets of skills involved.

Number jacks teaches basics of arithmetic. My NT son learned a lot from the program but might not be stuctured enough for ASD child

That is a good idea, think there is a DVD of the series. Thanks!
