cognitive deficit? ive googled and dont understand it really

im probably wrong but i have been told this basically is another term used meaning "learning or physical difficulties" so depends on your dx but im sure someone else may be able to explain it much more eloquently than me

the defenition of cognitive defecit is difficulties in reasoning, judgment, intuition and memory, lack of awareness and insight, hope this helps.

I've found that they don't ever like to mention IQ, but instead always talk about 'cognitive abilities'. Which I took to be a euphamism for IQ (or perhaps a more accurate way of describing it).....

IQ's a controversial word so people avoid using it - but yeah to most people cognitive ability is the same thing as IQ

cognitive ability refers to such processes as perceiving, knowing, recognizing, conceptualizing, judging, and reasoning so same thing as IQ but the defecit part means lack of some or all of these skills.
