Has anyone ran into this problem and how did they resolve it .

Ds3 went to school in taxi as normal 9.06 phonecall ds3 is unwell has been sick in taxi .

School said its ok taxi driver will bring him home but nope not aauthorised school called explained its going to take me the best part of 3 hrs by public transport to get to him but nope they wont help.

Am on my way now to get him but was suprised to find that theres no help provided in cases like these

And wrong day so could not even get a taxi to him just dont have the £30 each way

Sadly, they are in the right. They only have responsibility for the two journeys at the beginning and end of the day. Anything else is down to the parents.

If it's going to take you 3 hours to get there (and 3 hours to get home), I would tell school to keep him there till home time when the taxi is authorised to pick him up.

That's horrible for you and him- Will the bus driver even let him on if he's going to be sick? Unfortunately the school is within its rights- I had to go and pick up ds when he had been sick, even though he 'melted' due to the change in routine- good luck

taxi driver was willing but Sen said no.Not blaming the school in the slightest hes not well so i want him home with me.But since i dont drive only way is the 2 buses and 2 trains journey then repeat way home .

Am on last train now and will grab a taxi to get up to the school bu will need to do above journey home

Poor you, what a nightmare. Hope he's better soon. Hope you manage to get home ok, try and get plenty carrier bags from school and wipes in case he's sick on way back.

Peachy · 31/01/2011 12:20

Nightmare for you both.

TBH it's why we allocate both boy's LR Mobilty towards a second car- simialr journey only from Sept two SNUs in different directions so if a bug went round the family......

(Actually am worried now LOL, ds3 gone in with cold and dh's car in garage so he's taken 'mine'.... eeeek)

IIWY I would mention the difficulty to the school and see if there is some work around that they can help you come up with.

I know when I was at school, I had a phase of regular migraines and vomiting - my form tutor would take me home. There's probably reasons now why that can't happen.

What about a friend or neighbour helping out?

Two buses and two trains with a sick child is not a prospect that I would relish - if he's got to make a 3 hour journey home while poorly it would almost be better for him to stay at school and come home on the taxi as usual.
