DLA changing to PIP

ive read a bit on line about PIP but will my DS still get the equivalent as everyone has to be re assessed its quite a worry as like everyone we wouldnt have applied if we didnt need it looks like the government are just trying to move the goal posts further apart so less people can get it

There's no way of knowing as the consultation process is as yet incomplete (if you ahve not done it do it today- google DLA consultation, go to the DWP page).

Absolutely WRT the less people: they have a stated aim of cutting 20%

But

Nobody as yet knows what will happen wrt to children as the main stuff seems to be focussed on adults and work.

I also have 2 with a DLA award and ASD and I don;t think one will still get it but we shall seee. it's 2013 as well though so fingers crossed that A) things will change and B) they will be on a pre-election spree and rescind it. unlikely of course.

i do hope so lol yes i had a look at the site was v complicated , i thought it just sounded like excuse to get as many people off dla as poss typical government hey.. my DS has it and my DH is on higer rate mobility so we have a car on motabillity thats other reason was worried as dont want to end up with no car been there in past and was a nightmare all i could see on there abt children was that they would be sent for appointment with their specialists after all the adults have been sent oh well we shall see ty Peachy

You don;t have to do the full form; if you write your feelings in a letter and email to the address on that site it works.

Important though- closes 14th feb.

I have one on MR care and LR mobility, and one on HR care and LR mobility: the two mobiliyy payments add up so we run a car that gets us to schools etc as DH is a good 40 miles in the opposite direction each day with the other car and no buses going either way.

Soemthing you might like to mention in the letter is a suggestion that they could take the HRM car away should a claim end but compel the person to maintain the lease for a good while, meaning a high potential financial expensiture.

im filling in responses to the question and sugesst we all do so

Peachy · 30/01/2011 20:00

I have wraith, but it's really quite hard going: far better to send the email than to send nothing.

Not that it will make a difference: David Cameron said on TV on Friday that nothing will get in the way of making cuts (in response to the economic situation)....

wraith · 31/01/2011 14:07

true but all we are after is cuts to be done fairly without screwing anyone over

finally got round to doing the consultation this morning, it's heavy going isn't it?! The bit about taking away dla for dcs in special schools is just insane, surely they are the dcs with the high level of care needs at home, I'm obviously missing something substantial in their logic.

goingroundthebend4 · 01/02/2011 03:49

point out as well if you lose the car that especially if your dc are in school or unit not local you will have noi way of collecting them if they are ill as Sen wont help

I had to pay out £50 on a taxi oine way to go get him and then a 3 hour journey home to go collects ds3 yesterday as was sick on way to school and at school

Sen said well if you thought was unwell should not have sent him.My reply well at 7.40 he was right as bloody rain so thats why wa sin school

baileyandtinks · 02/02/2011 16:19

Thats a good idea GRTB4 i will do if it happens omg i would be so in trouble if we did and yes id have no way of collecting DS if had no car would be a complete nightmare, plus my DH is disabled too and ive DS2 and DD to collect i darnet think of it,still cant believe thay made you go get him under those circumstances there unbelievable arnt they

Please sign the petition that has been set up by Broken of Britain to recall the Public Consultation on Disability Living Allowance (DLA) reform, and to cease work on reform of this benefit, due to serious flaws in the consultation paper. Also pass on the link to all the people you know.

wraith · 03/02/2011 17:31

done good job sparkle.

the consultation is stupid,

as if having a wheelchair means someone isnt disabled O_o stupid

cordysmum · 18/01/2012 19:30

Just fed up of the cuts, we only claimed DLA as going to the hospital about every 4-6 weeks was costing us an absolute fortune and the fact that it was near on impossible to go back to work.

We are a single income family due to our child's epilepsy and hypermobility and its getting very tough. I know everyone is cutting down but i think they should stop making sweeping changes to benefits without thinking about the people that need them to make ends me. After all my mortgage and food bills have not been cut down in price so why should one of the two benefits that we claim be (the other is carers allowance as i am now full time carer).

I will not vote for either party in Govt ever again if this means we lose these precious benefits!!

Very cross sorry ladies
