Some of you may know about the trouble I've had with DS[16] recently.
Well a fortnight ago I told his social worker I was considering residential or supported living if he ever attacked me again so she came to visit and said about regular weekend respite and longer. She phoned on Monday to say a possibility of 5 days with a male carer in a caravan for February half term she's just phoned again to say she's almost certain funding been approved and will let me know on Monday this will be our first proper break without him ever.Just got to phone the carer up and arrange a visit this weekend.

That is brilliant. Ds loves his respite - it is special to him and fun- and its good for us too. I'll keep fingers crossed for you!

Newbie here! So glad for you to just get some time to yourself. Brilliant, this is a much deserved break. You will miss him because first ever break, however just remember he'll be enjoying himself. Recharging your batteries will enable you to continue caring for your ds. My ds gets 21 nights per year at Respite centre, initially when he went i was crying and phoning continually. Now that im used to it, and know he loves going i really look forward to next time he goes. When he's going through a bad spell i am literally counting days until he goes. It give me quality time with dh and also my other 2 other ds. Hope it all gets confirmed for you, and you enjoy the break.
