OK so both DDs off school poorly today (to be fair now it seems like they probably would have been OK to go, but didn't look like that first thing this morning...) and I am now shattered - just as they seem to be gaining more energy and wanting more things to do.

I could really do with some eyes in the back of my head as DD2 (ASD, 4 in June) just constantly seems to be making a mess - taps left running (quietly so I can't hear them), soggy toilet paper blocking up sink, toys out everywhere, pen lids off, food remains spread around the house etc. Sound familiar anyone?! Yes just like a naughty toddler, I know, just she doesn't do it to be naughty. Now she's asking for the sand play dough (at the top of her voice)... god give me strength!!

Oh my! I'd loan you my eyes, but they are a bit bleary right now as I'm a bit under the weather. My sympathies! The only reason I'm not dealing with the same issues (DS2 off sick today with temp and cough, although it doesn't seem to slow him down much Hmm) is that we have safety gates all over the house and use them religiously! It keeps me sane. Grin

ds2 is teething at the moment and was up most of the night, that's why I'm here trying to stay awake until the school run, otherwise I'd lend them! Same approach as triggles, we have a bout 3 safety gates on the go right now. Thankfully, apart from ds2 who is now having a lovely nap, everyone else is at school. Will they be back at school tomorrow?

missworld2010 · 26/01/2011 14:19

oh yes. back tomorrow even if they're worse Grin

they're 5 and 3 so past the safety gates stage sadly but thanks for the suggestion... maybe I'll just glue them to the sofa instead (shame Beebis doesn't have that automatic effect on mine!!) Wink

Grin poor loves! Dd3 will be 5 quite soon but then she doesn't have enough motor control or strength to open the gates yet. Cbeebies doesn't work on my lot either.

wE PUT A safety gate on the entrance to our kitchen and bathroom and it's stopped Ds2 aGED 5 from creating havoc in there. So far at least Hmm.

starfishmummy · 26/01/2011 14:40

I second bullet. "Stairgates" are great! DS is 12 and we still use them as he cant open them!

missworld2010 · 26/01/2011 14:47

Hmmm.... Will think about that. Just went back into room to find sand dough spread ALL round the room, on carpet. Great. Who says she doesnt need constant 1-1 in a statement?! Have I learned my lesson not to do mums net posting instead of 24 hour watching DD2? Apparently not... Wink

sounds like you've got your hands full....does she like helping with the hoovering ??

Triggles · 26/01/2011 16:21

Yes, our DS2 is 4.5 and cannot get through the safety gate yet, thank goodness!

sorry you have had a bad day, will make you drink loads tonight to cheer you up :)

auntevil · 26/01/2011 17:56

Do you a swap Missworld, i will lend you 1 eye, if you can lend me 1 hand. My 1 eye - and the others in the back of my head - will catch them being mischievous, but i always seem to need an extra hand to clear up the disaster zones they leave behind. In fact, you may have seen the devastation that they cause, Kate Adie reported from here once!
Seriously though, dose them up and send them in tomorrow. Rest easy tonight as you know there will be peace tomorrow. Grin
