ds (who up to now is pretty much all sign). Today said 'U Wau Gou' (I want to go!!!!!)

It was in amongst all the usual babble, but i said 'You wanted to go?' and he said yeah yeeah! (one of few words he has.)

A real honest to goodness sentence of SPEECH!!!

(I am now feeling silly, for making a fuss because we were probably the only ones to understand it, and it was only 3 syllabuls, but dammit little sign spoke! Grin Grin Grin

Oh How Lovely SAS.
My aunty always used to say we spend the 1st few yrs teaching them to speak and the next 20 telling them to shut up! But I think in our kids cases each word is a precious stone.
My elder boy said Mama when he was just turned 3.
My younger son however who also has complex tourettes said the F word- in Asda's- at the top of his voice! Got a few raised eyebrows n funny looks when I squealed 'hoorah, he's talking' :o

That's brilliant news!

And i definitely understand. DS2 has the odd word, but that's all it is and he never has more than 2 or 3 regularly used words on the go at once. I got ridiculously excited when he simply said "muh" when he handed me his cup wanting a re-fill, the other night. :o

Lougle · 24/01/2011 15:00

negligentmummy · 25/01/2011 11:18

i still remember our first "sentance".

nu mu ello ju

directed at dd2 who had spilt her first drink and was being berated with "no more yellow juice" by dd1 (3 1/2 at the time).

I cried I was so happy.

it's still a long slow road, but i knew then that we were turning a corner

well done little sign
