Has anyone any experience of either of these procedures?
My son is 7 and has a spinal curvature of 88 degrees. He is having one of the above procedures this summer. Just wondering if anyone can share their experiences/advice.
Thanks
Nat

Hi Nat - sorry I have no advice but DS1 is at Orthopedics next month with a suspected curvature of the spine.
The scoliosis in your thread title caught my eye, hopefully someone will be along soon who can help.

DS is now 16 and had a spinal fusion at GOSH under Noordeen when he was 11. His curvature (which was congenital) was about 40 degrees and was very high on the spine. It had been monitored since he was 11 months as it was found during his time in NICU.
It never moved until he was 10 and started to put on some height.
The recovery isn't a nice period. About 2 weeks of absolute hell. He has a H shaped titanium bracket.
However, the operation itself was very successful. It hasn't moved since, not even during the rapid growth of puberty.
Where will you have it done? Noordeen is extremely good and now operates at the Royal National Orthopaedic at Stanmore.

PS If you take this option, go for a really high protein diet afterwards as it regenerates the bone to grow around the metalwork. DS had his op in February and we had the bone totally grown back around by September.
