It has been suggested by her school that DD1,age 8,may have Irlen syndrome. We have an appointment booked for this Thursday with the City University Optometry clinic near Old Street, who say that they test for this. I have also been told by a practitioner from the Irlen Centre (contacted via the Irlen UK website) that as this is not a visual problem, an optometrist cannot diagnose or treat this - is this correct? Does anyone have any experience of either the City University Clinic or the Irlen London Centre? This is all new to us, and any feedback would be gratefully received!

Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome to us the clinical and research name for this set of issues is a visual processing problem, regarding sensitivity to various light frequencies, and brightnesses.
I have a Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome research paper collection listed on my Invisible Disability research paper web page
You have to be careful of all who have some sort of program to sell or promote, they may be able to help, but may not always provide the best quality information.
