Cranial Osteopathy

It has very recently come up that DS1 is really struggling at pre-school - prob Aspergers.

Co-incidentally, on the same day, I saw an osteopath with a back injury.

He suggested cranial osteopathy. (well, he would, wouldn't he?)

Personally, I'm a cynic: "you mean, you wobble his head around and he stops kicking / hitting everyone??" and was too likely to burst into tears to discuss it there and then.

Have seen cranial osteopathy come up here a couple of times recently.

Mumbo Jumbo or worth a go?

I'm glad you feel it has helped. As I say I am not sure yet.

Btw I read your article in Junior. It was very good ... written from the heart .

Thanks Saker. As I say, it could be coincidence, of course, but I honestly don't know.

It seems quite common for people to put improvements down to things like CO or diet without any real evidence that those are causing the improvements. All the other things going on seem to get less credit as they are "routine" (I mean school etc). If I'm perfectly honest, I count CO in my list of Mumbojumbo but I still don't see it as harmful and it isn't ever classified as "the thing" that's going to make the difference, bring about a cure etc. So I don't see any harm as far as the child's wellbeing goes and I don't think parents invest high hopes and a lot of emotion into it, unlike some other things.....!!!

I agree totally Davros. I have a scientific background and even in a well-designed experiment in the lab it can be hard to see the wood from the trees. The improvements we are seeing in Ds2 might just be the coming together of lots of work and effort that we and others have been putting in over the last months. I have felt that he is coming on generally in the last couple of months. Plus I have rather vaguely started trying some of the RDI techniques and they may also be helping.

I am not planning to go back after we have finished these sessions unless something changes drastically.

DS2 saw a CO a few times and the change was remarkable. Pre school even commented on it. He was a little reluctant but fell asleep in the first session and on following sessions. I'd say that and homeopathy have changed his and our lives

Ulysees · 20/10/2005 21:58

BTW there's no way it was conincidence with DS2. The change happened overnight and for his pre-school to comment on the amazing difference in him with 25 years experience of kids I find coincidence hard to believe.

Saker · 20/10/2005 22:04

I thought after I'd written that earlier that I might offend some people who have seen big changes and that was not my intention at all. I am not trying to undermine that - obviously you know your child best and if it's very obvious then it's a lot easier to relate the two events. However I do agree with Davros that when the change is slight it could be due to any number of things and there is a great temptation to put it down to the one you have just coughed up £30 for .

LIZS · 20/10/2005 22:06

I'm fairly sceptical tbh but prepared to give it a try and we'll see.

Ulysees · 20/10/2005 22:45

I'm always sceptical too if the changes are slight. Plus I doubt it's possible for CO to help everyone.

DS2 had a ridge down his head which I blame on the birth but that's another story. With the CO it's almost gone. Don't know what the ridge is called but it wasn't normal.

Davros · 21/10/2005 09:36

Agree with Saker, didn't mean to offend and I agree with how she has put it.
