I previously posted under chivers1977 and you all were very helpful re dyspraxia and school.

We have now got his first CDC appointment on Monday and he is seeing an OT and a physio.

Am lookng for some guidance on what to expect. We have told him that all children go for this type of check up to check their balance etc!

Thanks

Love the name!
We had quite alot of questions, from birth till now so if you have a baby book and his health book might be worth taking those. We also took a list of our concerns and had kept a diary for a few weeks.
I would take stuff for him to do as it's a long appointment and it's mainly talking. Hth

Thanks Lisa.

I'll take the DS Lite the red book and my list of "symptoms" that the school won't agree are part of dyspraxia.

Just looking forward to getting some validation from the professionals and getting some help for him.

We took DD to CDC a couple of months back for an assessment with OT. OT got DD to do threading, puzzles, writing, drawing, bounce on a trampette, squat down to pick objects up, take shoes and socks off (that's all I can remember off the top of my head)! Basically checking fine and gross motor skills, balance, posture and muscle tone. Good luck with appointment

I'm not sure about for dyspraxia but my first CDC appointment was just sitting in consultant pediatricians office for around 2 hours although it was only meant to be a 45 minute appointment!! she took lo development history and asked my concerns then, she done a few test his only 4 so it was draw a circle and a cross and do a 3 piece jigsaw, and other ones he wouldn't do like play feed a doll, build with bricks, jump, hop, walk, then if he would allow her to do a physical check in him chest and height and stuff.she then said he has Autism gave us all these leaflets and contacts and said come back in three months for official diagnosis!

Apparently the CDC tests are age appropriate. He is 5.5 so today he had to do threading (speed), drawing shapes, drawing through a maze, throwing, catching, walking on tiptoes along a line, running to check gait, physio checked joints and feet on my request due to my own hypermobility (he has none - YAY!), putting coins into a slot, jumping onto different mats. The physio and OT were really lovely with him and he really enjoyed it. Am pleased that they really listened to what we were saying and were happy to take my list of all of the issues against the dyspraxia foundation website.
